JUNIOR TRACK WORLD CHAMPION

Ben Wiggins

He secured his spot in cycling history by becoming the Junior World Champion in the Madison at the 2023 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Cali, Colombia, alongside teammate Matthew Brennan. Earlier that year, he claimed silver in the junior time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Glasgow.

Ben is currently riding for the UCI Continental team Hagens Berman Jayco, having joined ahead of the 2024 season. A versatile athlete, he continues to pursue both road and track cycling, following in the footsteps of his father, Bradley Wiggins, the first British Tour de France winner.

Born and raised in the UK, Ben's passion for cycling runs deep in his family—his grandfather, Gary Wiggins, was also a professional cyclist.

“I used to feel the pressure more as a junior, but now I think I'm starting to create my own path with my own achievements”

What is your pre-race ritual?
I haven’t really got any rituals that I consciously do before every race, but I guess I have the same play list and same warm up that I use for TTs
What is your favourite meal after a workout?
If I’m locked in you can’t go wrong with a good bowl of pasta and tomato sauce with a side of salmon, if I’m having a bit of a cheat meal it’s gotta be a pizza for me
What's in your race bag?
Again it’s pretty basic but the last thing I always check for is my wahoo, I’ve forgot it at the hotel at races before and it’s made for a long old day without it
What got you into the sport?
I’d have to say watching the 2009 Tour, for me that was the peak of cycling. So many all time greats that weren’t only great riders but such big personalities as well, watching Contador got at it with the Schleck brothers and Lances comeback, Cav with 6 stage wins
What does Daily Discipline mean to you?
Putting in the work isn’t a choice, motivation is only temporary and discipline will carry you through 90% of the time. Wether it’s rain or shine, whether you’ve had a bad day or a good day, it’s about getting the work done and consistently showing up
